My Distress

From my distress I called upon the Lord; The Lord answered me and set me in a large place. The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me? Psalm 118:5-6 NASB

I often find that I commune with Christ differently than Christian men do. The Epistles are mainly addressed to men. I often misapply the Epistles because I believe God is speaking to me as an individual, when the authors (Paul/Peter/etc) are speaking to a specific church from God in a historical context.
The above scripture heals some of my emotional wounds and physical pain. The verse, "what can man do to me." offers me security. The faith that someday, man's hatred will subside. They won't be able to treat me with contempt. His lovingkindness is everlasting. I will one day realize I am His chosen one. When I look in the mirror I realize I am beautiful. His treasured possession.
I hope my readers can also experience their own personal communion with Christ.

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.
