Preach the Full Reward

One of the saddest realities in our youth groups today: kids only hear the message of salvation in regards to sin. It is a pillar of the faith. However, the true salvation message is not only limited to the washing away of sin. It is also rewarded with the resurrection from the dead. I was lucky enough to hear a sermon by Allen Hood. He spoke about how my body will most likely be able to walk through walls. This message gave me an everlasting hope.

We hear the "saved from sin" message every time we walk into a church service. I am not suggesting that being saved from my sins is a small thing. It is not! However, I am testifying that resurrection from the dead is by no means less of a thing. The two should come together.

If we preached to our young children that they are going to have imperishable bodies, and we celebrate that each Sunday, they will have a stronger and more lasting faith. It is the full Gospel and currently we are downplaying it, and maybe even disgracing our faith. Sin has lost its power! We are glad! But, my friends, death has lost its sting!

I know that Easter has become our excuse for not preaching this every Sunday. However, that excuse has robbed the pews of many young adults. Everyone wants to be a superhero and our resurrected bodies will give us such an opportunity! These resurrected bodies will be impressive. I PROMISE that the human race longs for more than freedom from sin. We also long to be free from the result of sin. The human race needs to hear what our full reward will be. We need to hear more sermons about the resurrection of our bodies. I suggest it be preached every time there is an altar call for salvation!
