My Truth Idol

Love is paramount in the scriptures. Most Christians know the phrase: "without love, I am nothing." (1 Corinthians 13) We are given two commandments from Christ: love God and love our neighbor. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. God is love.

It is obvious that God's primary message to humankind is "I love you! Please, love me in return." Paul writes that love is greater than all wisdom and knowledge.

Unfortunately, at this time in my life, I am craving truth more than I am craving love. I don't want to be swept along by every thought, theology, or opinion. I want wisdom and insight. I want understanding and discernment. I want to be built on a rock, a solid foundation.

There isn't anything wrong with wanting to know the truth. Except when you want it more than love. I realized today, that I want truth more than I want love. I will try to remedy this in the next few months.
