Every time I hear a message about "The Soon Coming King" I gain a new sense of urgency. Tragically, others grow dull to this proclamation.
Last semester I had a public speaking class. I decided for one of my speeches I would talk about the urgency of the hour. After giving my speech, I was caught off guard in three ways. Here are those three ways:
1. The class wasn't very engaged or responsive to my speech. I decided my presentation was lacking. I spoke with my teacher and she didn't agree my speech was lacking passion. She said (paraphrased),"Don't worry Tamara. It is the end of the semester and students lack motivation and interest at the end of the semester."
She was probably right, but urgency needs to be stirred even as the semester is ending. I failed to get this across, and that scares me.
2. At the beginning of my speech I held a little contest. I showed the entire class my first slide. The first slide was the title page. The title page said, "A Thief in the Night." I would give a free CD to anyone who knew what my speech was about just by seeing the title page. One student, just one! He raised his hand and guessed it was about the Rapture.
Others might not think this is relevant. But, most Taylor students are Christians. The fact that only one student recognized this end time phrase "A Thief in the Night" rattled me. The CD was Ancient Paths by Corey Russell. I think the CD was given to a very special student who is listening for God's voice. He was the only student who recognized the hour.
3. In my PowerPoint I had numerous pictures representing the signs of the times. For example, I had pictures of earthquakes and famine. I mentioned how these signs are happening now. Then I played this video.
I heard a few gasps in the crowd. No one even knew this man, and they couldn't believe such a man existed. I don't think he is the anti-Christ. But, he is a false Christ, which is a sign of the times. We are asleep.
