Mind of Christ

No one denies that there is a difference between men and women. I realize some women enlist in the army and some men choose to be ballerinas. I am not dealing with stereotypes or cultural norms; I am addressing the real differences. Men and women are created differently and act differently. Then I heard a semon that made me curious about these differences.

The sermon was about the transformation of the mind. The pastor told us that we could have the mind of Christ, if we take every thought captive. After hearing that sermon, I picked up my Bible to further study this concept. Then I began to wonder if women can truly have the mind of Christ.

In 1 Corinthians 2, it states born-again believers “have the mind of Christ.” The writer talks about a secret wisdom, a hidden wisdom. This wisdom is only discerned by the Spirit of God. Christian should pursue the mind of Christ.

But, Jesus was fully man. His human nature was (and is) different from women’s nature. His thought processes are uniquely different from all of humanity. But, this difference is amplified when one considers that Jesus was a man and not a woman.

It doesn’t bother me that our Savior is a man. But, it makes me wonder if I relate to God the way my Christian brothers relate to Him. It also makes me wonder if I can have the FULL mind of Christ. Do I miss out on certain aspects of Jesus’s nature simply because I am a female?
