The Eternal Ache

Last night, as I was resting my head on my pillow, I felt a painful ache. I curled up into the fetal position and ached for the return of Christ. This ache wasn't a wimpy "I miss you, Jesus" moment. The pain was real anguish.

I tried to meditate on happy things. I made an effort to fellowship with the ever present Holy Spirit. But, the ache didn’t subside. No tears escaped my eyes, but my mind was weeping.

The eternal ache is felt by all of us. Sometimes this ache is a fleeting thought. Other times this ache is an all-consuming obsession.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
