Do Something

It’s not okay that people do not survive mental illness. People are getting so depressed and so deluded that they commit suicide. I hear about this all the time. I know several people who have lost family to this deadly killer. Looking back on my last episode, I must admit that I am not above suicide. My normal Tamara is adamantly against suicide, but my schizophrenic Tamara is susceptible to it. Let’s face it: mental illness is mysterious, dangerous, and scary. It takes lives of energetic, passionate people without warning. It’s not okay!

So many families and friends don’t know how to cope with someone suffering from a mental illness. How do we protect the souls of people oppressed by lying forces? We don’t have the answers. We feel powerless. It’s not okay!

People who suffer from mental illness cannot survive with passive communities, communities that ignore the problem. People who suffer from mental illness need aggressive advocates, people who go radically out of their way to rescue the hurting. It’s not okay that we send hallmark cards, but have no power to reach out. I’m so angry that this illness is killing our young people. It’s not okay, and I plan to do something about it!
