There is a popular notion that justice must be fair and balanced. If you commit a crime, you need to serve time. If you hurt someone, you should suffer loss. If you do damage to someone, then you deserve some sort of punishment. The word is “karma.” Almost every religion has their brand of karma. Except true Christianity. Karma is a type of anti-christ.
I believe that the Mosaic Law, without a doubt, appeared to have a “karma-like” justice—an eye for an eye requirement. However, when Christ entered the scene and died on the cross, He revoked the karma law. He got what He didn’t deserve, and we didn’t get what we deserved.
Whenever moralists preach a doctrine similar to the “karma” doctrine, it isn’t a representation of the Gospel. Karma is an anti-christ belief. Jesus came to reverse the curse. God’s love is extravagantly rich, beyond our imagination. If we live under the law of karma, our futures are bleak. If we rest in God’s grace and unconditional love, we are truly save.
Don’t bow to the false god of karma. You don’t want what you deserve. You want what God wants to give you, something greater than you deserve! The book of Romans is a good study to help one understand how grace and the law canceled the karma law while still upholding righteousness and justice.
