This may sound both sappy and crazy, but I believe God just gave me a love song! I came across a section in Romans that continues to reverberate in my soul.
Romans 15:8-9 "For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God's truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy."
That scripture might as well be a box of chocolates in a heart shaped box. It is everything I could ever want. It is my love song.
Christ became a servant to the circumcised.
Jesus acting in a manner that makes me fall in love with Him. He submits to the Father, becoming a bond-slave, to serve the circumcised. To fulfill an ancient promise, the king becomes a slave. Jesus relentlessly serves the Jewish people!
Jesus shows the truthfulness of God.
I want to know the truth. Seeking truth is one of the highest pursuits in my life. Jesus's mission, according to this scripture, is to show the truthfulness of God. He confirms that the promises of God are true and trustworthy.
Glory in His Mercy
All of history encourages me to glory in God's mercy. This gives me such freedom. My purpose in life is to glory in God's mercy. I can do that!
I know this scripture appears simple, but it is alive in me. I read it today, and I felt like the Spirit caused the words to jump right off the page.
Jesus became a servant to His people.
Jesus showed truth and fufilled God's promise to Israel.
We are called to glory in His mercy.
Jesus and I have a love song.
