David Before He was King

I love the heart of David, which was formed before he was king. I love his shepherd heart. His undistributed heart. The heart that was found in the fields with sheep. He found courage and worship outside of governmental influence. When I meet David, I want to ask him a question. "When were you more content? As a shepherd or as a king?" I don't know what his answer will be. He was probably more influential as king. He probably had more opportunities to serve God and glorify God as a king. However, I know from my experience that I prefer shepherd moments over king moments. I prefer the harp to the sword or the crown.
