Last Friday I wrestled with some internal traffic. I attended the IHOPFW’s Friday service. My emotions toward the Lord were unpredictable.
At the beginning of the service, I was weeping because I was aching for His presence. A few songs later, I was laughing because I felt His joy and delight over me. Then I began to tremble and repent because I felt deep conviction.
I am convinced that God expresses burning, righteous anger at the same time He expresses delight and mercy. How do I respond to the God who displays Himself in immeasurable depth, height, width, and length? His emotions and affections are a vast colorful rainbow.
How do I respond properly to His call? How do I respond rightly to His love, His beauty, or His majesty? I want to honor, obey, and revere Him, but I also want to laugh, feel freedom, and dance in the river of His Fatherly affections. My God is complex ,and responding to Him properly is a balancing act.
A beautiful sister in the Lord prayed a simple prayer during this service. She prayed, “God let us yield to you!” Sometimes that is all we can do, say yes and yield.
