Conflict at the Border
Immigration reform. This is a heated battle. Many people complain about illegal immigrants taking American jobs. Disgruntled Americans think illegal immigrants are a strain on our financial system.
I strongly believe God will bless the nation who welcomes the foreigner and destitute. These Mexican immigrants are risking their lives to enter our country because they are poor and desperate. Christians should value human life more than our pocketbooks. When we help the poor, we will be blessed!
I am NOT political. I don't care what Obama, or any other politician, feels about immigration control. It is the church's duty to open our homes and provide jobs for these precious people.
The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

If you haven't lived on the bankrupt border you can't possibly understand the strain all of the border dwellers are under. Many Christians are breaking under the strain of supporting people that take via public assistance, but never give anything back because they don't pay taxes. It's complex and ruining people's lives on both sides of the border. Not to mention U.S. citizens are now being murdered on their own lands. Not Good.
First, I thank you for commenting. I want my blog to inspire thought and encourage discussion. My reply is this:
You have mentioned the political strain and financial burden. Do you think God's word supports your decision to turn these people away? You are free to believe that our government should tighten security at the border. Maybe the immigrants should go through the correct avenues to become citizens. I realize this makes financial sense.
However, imagine the roles are reversed. You are seeking refuge in another country and that country prevents you from crossing the border. You are hungry, fearful for your life, and looking for a better place to rear your children. The golden rule applies to this situation. I will treat these Mexicans how I would want to be treated.
I agree with your statement: If you haven't lived on the bankrupt border you can't possibly understand the strain all of the border dwellers are under.
My ignorance on this subject makes my comments less impressive.
However, I personally would reach out to these people. I can’t help but think of Hitler. He saw the Jews as a burden to society. He convinced his people to relocate Jew into Ghettos to preserve the Aryan race. It gave him a platform to murder thousands.
The violence on the border is tragic and very real. I think our Christian compassion and our ability to turn the other cheek will spread the kingdom of God.
