I have plenty to say. I will try to limit the day to straight to the point details.
1. Went to work... no surprise
2.Went to School... no surprise
3. On my way home got a flat tire....surprise
4.Called 5 people before someone was able to help...surprise
5.Chris Harouff is my hero. He changed my tire....surprise
6.Ended up spending an hour at Discount tire to fix my car...bad surprise
7.Planned to go to a party at my writing professor's house. Already running late, could not find the house, gave up, and decided to go to the Desire More Service....bad surprise turned to a good surprise.
8. Josh was leading so I got to sing on stage. God's presence was intimate and powerful. Forgot the whole frustrating day. God is surprising.
Then to finish off the day I went to Wal-Mart and had a bizarre experience.
I approached the check out line. The person in front of me had a birthday card and a gift bag. I jokingly asked her if the present was for me. This is how the rest of the conversation went.
Girl in front of me: Uhhh no is it your birthday?
Tamara: Yes, it is my birthday. Actually I got a flat tire for my birthday.
Girl in front of me: Oh dear.
Guy behind me: Ha, it is my birthday too! I lost my job today!
This experience was amazing to me for many reasons. If the girl in front of me hadn't bought birthday items I probably would have never mentioned my birthday. In turn the man behind me would not have mentioned it was his birthday too. In which case I would not have gained perspective. So what if I had a flat tire? I only spent $20.00 for a new one. He lost his job! I know God set that conversation up for two reasons.
1. To make me thankful and stir me to praise.
2. To give me the opportunity to pray for that man.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME and MY TWIN BROTHER...and the man at Wal-Mart who lost his job.
