The Big Bang Theory

There are some heated debates raging in the media now. Homosexual marriage and Duck Dynasty’s star speaking his opinions. Well, I will confess I am a little controversial myself. I have found more comfort watching “The Big Bang Theory” instead of attending church.  I have had brilliant Christians remind me that it is crude and sexually immoral. I remind myself that the Bible is just as crude.
I suppose I relate to “The Big Bang Theory” because I have wrestled with the stigma of mental illness, which “The Big Bang Theory” does subtly address with Sheldon. All the characters have eccentric behavior, and I feel like I can relate to those qualities more than the “picture perfect Christian standard.”
The show discusses religion more than some Christian sermons. The show is more realistic than some polite Christian conversations, and that is why I am addicted to it.
I find I am more aware of God’s glory and mercy when I watch the show, and I realize this may shock most people. However, I find God there. I see God’s spirit. I can commune better with His Spirit.
They are more forgiving than today’s hateful media and judgmental pulpit. Jesus is represented in the show. So is fidelity.
