God answered a prayer. I asked God for joy. For the last two years, overflowing, abundant, genuine joy has flooded my soul. This joy is rooted in my confidence of God's love for me and the hope of His soon return. I am fully aware that the Father's joy is increasing as His people come into the knowledge of His Son!
My joy is only increasing. For the last three months, church services are different for me. I use to attend church service for various reasons: to worship God, to hear a message, to serve the body of Christ. All of these are perfectly good reasons to attend church. However, now I come to PARTY. I am not being silly. I am completely serious! Partying at church includes exciting worship, but I am referring to more. I come with every intention to dance, laugh, fellowship, and CELEBRATE the love of the Father. I am not intimidated by any condemnation of the enemy. I will fight the stoic atmosphere that the demonic powers want to create. I believe there is a wedding feast to be had. God is dancing over His people, and we should be dancing too.
We also should be inviting the afflicted, the poor, the lonely, and the unloved to this gracious table. However, if we don't give them entrance to a wedding party, what are we doing? If we invite them to a boring lecture, ask them for money, and somewhat entertain them, then what are we doing? I will tell you what we are doing. We are handing them a lie. We are handing them a false god, a version of Christianity that doesn't satisfy.
I really want to party. My generation wants to party. We want to let lose. We want to silence the criticism and feel free. And God made us that way. The Jews partied all the time. God invented festivals, wedding parties, and the Sabbath. For MAN! For his pleasure!
Lack of celebration deprives us of sonship. We should live as if the word of grace is true. We are sons and daughter of the Most High God. Come before the throne boldly and let God lavish His love on you.
Those of us who already know we are the beloved HAVE a reason to dance. We have countless reasons to celebrate. If the table is set, let us not ignore the invitation. Do we serve a God who is worthy of our worship and celebration? Let's shout! It's party time! I mean Jesus is a good looking groom! And the Holy Spirit inside us knows it well. He isn't shy about it at all! He'll shout, using our tongues, if we let Him.
