Evangelist Vs Prayer Warrior

I have noticed a growing tension within the body of Christ. People who devote their lives to prayer and mediation are often criticized by people who devote their lives to world missions. Prayer warriors often claim missionaries are leaning on weak human strength to save souls.

I think this clash will come to the forefront in the next few years.

Here are some statements I have recently heard:

"You can't sit in a prayer room all day and never encounter the world."
"Brazil needs workers! The gospel isn't preached in a prayer room."

"Missionaries become warn out and ineffective because they don't give proper time to prayer and meditation in God Word."
"Christians are obsessed with doing things for God, and they rarely encounter Him."

These statements are dangerous. They are meant to glorify God, but in reality these statements are filled with hatred and judgement. I personally believe world missions and the current prayer movement must work together. We each have talents, and we must be faithful to what God has called us to do! This rift can't be ignored; it must be healed.

It's an issue as old as the church--

People spend too much time worrying that someone might be called to minister in a way that's different than they way they are called to minister.

Often the reaction is jealousy or judgment. It's unfortunate and as a Body, we spend a lot of time and energy on this.

As my husband would say, "Hike your own trail."
