Always with You

There is a popular notion that "God is always with us." This is biblically supported because His word says, "I will never leave you or forsake you." One of my favorite scripture versus comes from Psalms 139.

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me.
Psalm 139:7-10

It is true that God is always with us. However, I still believe we ache for Jesus’s presence. God’s Spirit comforts us and Father God communicates to us through His word. But, the manifest presence of Jesus Christ causes us to long because He has “left” us for a time. Here are some scriptures that prove this point.

And Jesus said to them, "The attendants of the bridegroom cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.
Matthew 9:15

Little children, I am with you a little while longer You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, 'Where I am going, you cannot come.
John 13:33

We should mourn, fast, long, and cry for His return. Yes, we are comforted by His Spirit, but God wants us to ache for Jesus's return. He is absent from earth, and we are in pain until His return.
